World’s 1st Integrated CLEANR
microplastic filter

At CLEANR Inc. we’re creating safer water for the environment. We build platform filter technology that enables product manufacturers and business customers to materially reduce microplastic contents from water and other liquid and aerosol substances.

The average person consumes around 5 grams of microplastics, the equivalent in weight to a credit card, every week.

Where are these plastics coming from?

In the United States, 66,000 pounds of plastic lint are released from washers into our oceans every week.

Our Story

CLEANR was founded in late 2021 by three CaseWestern engineers and entrepreneurs who have a passion for the environment and were concerned that microplastics were entering our food system, particularly from washing machine waste water. The team recognized the need for a next-generation washing machine filter that could meet 90%+ efficiency. The team created the "CLEANR Filter" which is 90%+ efficient and is easy for consumers to clean. CLEANR won two contracts to install the filter and soon attracted interest from universities, washing machine manufactures, healthcare firms, and sustainability consultancies.

Prevent your clothes from damage with WaterCare technology

By replacing vigorous drum movements with a jet of water and detergent that cascades in from the top of the drum, our WaterCare technology ensures a quicker, gentler wash cycle for your garments; without sacrificing wash performance. WaterCare also reduces the number of harmful microfibres that are released, helping to protect our water sources.

CLEANR

35% of all microplastic pollution in the environment comes from textile abrasion. The lint you find when cleaning your dryer is created from textile abrasion. Depending on the load, lint contains roughly 40% plastic, such as polyester and other synthetic fibers.
